Interview Scheduled but Moving After ADVICE NEEDED

Hello, All!

I hope your cases are going great so far!

My Interview was just scheduled today for 01/31/2022 in Orlando, FL.

But the thing is, My husband and I are moving out of state on 01/28.

We can definitely travel back on the 31st to do the interview (because I know rescheduling can delay more),

but Our concern is, if we get approved on the same day, the green card will be probably mailed to the old address(Orlando) after a week or so,

but Does Signing up for Mail Forwarding via USPS also forward the green card mail from USCIS, too?

Honestly, I just want to get it over in Orlando for the 31st interview without the change of address on USCIS until we receive the green card,

but I am not sure how we are supposed to receive the mail to our new address.

Should we just request a rescheduling?

Will appreciate some advice!

Your Greencard will not be allowed to get forwarded by USPS. The only thing I can think of is telling the IO during your Interview about the new address and hope that the system gets it right when it comes to mailing the card.

Can I submit the Change of Address Form via USCIS and Reschedule the Interview before moving?

I don’t know if the change of address allows me to submit that as of yet since I am only moving in a month.

I would strongly advise you not to reschedule or file for a change of address before if you want to get it over with soon. Do you currently rent? Is there any way somebody can pick up the green card from your mailbox and keep it for you? That’s what I would do: attend the interview, then have somebody pick up the gc for me. However, if the IO asks for your current address, be honest and say you moved. They might decide not to carry on with the interview, but it is worth trying imho.

Thank you so much for your advice.

We will attend the interview and let the interviewer know there.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Yay!!!! Merry Christmas to you too. Be sure to report back after the interview. Yours is a very common situation, and I’m sure that knowing the outcome will help others, too.

You might want to ask if USPS Premium Forwarding service will forward government mail. I know I looked into it before but did not find a solid answer. It may take asking at your local post office.

You could also ask them if they will hold any government mail. I know they did this with my US Passport when I renewed it.

I'd say definitely attend the interview in Orlando. If the green card gets lost in the mail, you are still a green card holder and may request the I-551 stamp.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.
