Hi everyone!

My husband and I filed the AOS packet (i485, i130 and the work and travel card) in early 2020 in Seattle, WA. In July of this year we moved to NJ and we changed our address online. Today, we got the letter saying we are scheduled for our i485 interview in Seattle. The letter had be redirected from our old address as if we hadn't changed our address at all.

First of all, how do I change our address? Should I file paper forms now? We would be able to fly across the country to attend this interview, but is it going to look bad that the address wasn't changed? We'd rather just keep the appointment instead of waiting another almost two years to have it rescheduled, but we also don't want to hurt our chances of having the AOS approved in any way.

Thank you so much for your help, this forum has been an enormous help throughout this process.

  1. Go online and file AR-11. It is the USCIS change of address form.
  2. Go to the interview in Seattle. Attend it, inform them them you changed address. The IO will likely interview you and refer you case to NJ of which you will most likely get GC and not second interview. My friend ended up in the same situation as you and did exactly what I am telling you here.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.
