I've been lurking around this site for a long time now, this will be my first post. I initially came to this site to research on fiance visa...here is my backstory. Me and my now fiance started communicating with each other in late 2018. We met through a mutual friend and in mid 2019, I visited my family in the Philippines and we also met in person. We continued communicating with each other and I was supposed to return to the Philippines in early 2020, but then covid hit. I then figured I could use fiance visa to bring her to the US,  since we met the requirement of meeting in person...but according to this site, fiance visa process now takes longer than spouse visa due to covid shutdowns...

Fast forward to 2021...in May, we decided to do spouse visa and we started planning my 4 week trip to the Philippines. In September of 2021, I went back to the Philippines with plans to get married. Keep in mind covid protocols in the Philippines are a pain in the butt, including a mandatory 10 day quarantine. A few days before I went home, my brother who was in pretty good health contracted covid. His health deteriorated while I was in quarantine and he unfortunately passed away on my last day at the hotel...WEDDING POSPONED!

My next trip to the Philippines is April 2022...I have not filed any papers with the immigration office, no fiance visa or spouse visa has been filed for her meaning I have no pending process yet.  My question is, if I reach out to my U.S. representative in my district, would he be able to help expedite any process? ( lets pretend I know him personally ).

Any advise would greatly be appreciated....

Help how?

they can  only get informaiton about a case (same info you would get if you applied)

Call the representative and ask him/her

Terms to expedite a case are clear:

you cant expedite anything yet, you havent even married yet

but let say you already file and submitted the document, you have no based to expedite your case

local representative only can inquire your case ( when you already have a case ) to USCIS and cant do more than that

If she were a princess in the Japanese or British royal family sure.  We seen two such  visas from each royal family obviously get expedited.

My opinion: Until your case exceeds processing times, a federal politician won’t help.

But if you know someone with power and you want to spend your “influence/favor capital” on that, go for it.

LOL, why?  Because you don't want to wait in the queue, like everyone else has to?

Everyone going through US immigration has been impacted by COVID shutdowns and delays.  You're not special that way.

US senators and congresspeople don't "put in a good word" with you for immigration.  They can make inquiries when processes are 'outside of normal processing time.'  You're not even close to that, since nothing has been filed.

If you choose to have a relationship with someone overseas, there will be periods of waiting.  No way around that for any of us.

If you were able to see her in September of 21 ,  u can file the K1

but April is not that far away and a spouse visa far outweighs the fiancee visa

yup...looks like I will be going that route.

If there was a way to expedite a straightforward case, literally everyone would be contacting their politicians for help. And if you "knew him personally" why would you even ask such a question on a public forum????

🙄

Although some may dispute it and pretend everything in the USA is done above board, politicians in the USA sometimes exert influence to get immigration documents for their friends and girlfriends approved more quickly.

Robert Menendez is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States senator from New Jersey, a seat he has held since 2006.

In 2015, Menendez was indicted on federal corruption charges, which were dropped in 2018. The United States Senate Select Committee on Ethics "severely admonished" him.

If you know your senator or congressman that well, give it a shot. Many are sleaze balls anyway and are not hesitant to pull strings for their associates and pals
