Thank You!

have you ever heard if it is even possible you go to oath ceremony right after interview on the same day?

This used to happen several years ago, but it surely does not happen anymore in the COVID19 era.

Can you update your timeline please?

Surely!

Applied: 12-23-21

Fingerprint: 01-25-22

Interview Date: 03-25-22

Oath Scheduled: 04-12-22

  • I applied with 3 year GC. Service. center is PHL.
  • When I applied, I-751 was pending with status listed as "in line for interview".
  • Interview date was thankfully a smooth process. i reviewed youtube videos and had several mock interviews at home with family (answering the questions and knowing my n-400 thoroughly)
  • I took all the listed documents and then took printed copies of the supporting documents i submitted as part of my n-400 online.
  • I reached earlier on the interview date and they took me in earlier and I waited for about 15 minutes.
  • Once the officer called me, I took the oath and he reviewed the rules for the interview.
  • Interview started with 6 civics question (almost 1 from each category), made me read a simple question and had to write a simple answer. Office then stated that I passed this portion of the exam.
  • Then asked me specific questions from my N-400 like DOB, marriage date, children, employment status, trips outside USA and then I was asked to review my biographical details on iPad and then signed a few forms. I was congratulated. I was never asked to provide any documents.
  • Officer saw my I-751 was pending and expressed surprise it was taking this long and then approved it on the spot.
  • Officer informed me that I should get oath notice within 30 days.

The USCIS portal apparently removed the “estimated time” from my case.

Is his happening for you too?

Any updates from other December 2021 cases being processed?

My case is still under review, no interview date yet..

Thanks

cheers

Yes, same here today…9months for me too… perhaps yesterday there was a glitch or IT maintenance that removed for some hours the info about estimated times..

Thanks for confirming anyway!

Hello everyone, today I had my oath ceremony at Philadelphia office. I arrived 15 minutes late; the process was so easy and quick. The officer explained and had a small presentation. After that we took the oath, and we were handed the naturalization certificate.

ps: our family members were not allowed at the oath taking, but after that they could enter to the room to take pictures.

thank you everyone, and wish you all the best in ur process.

Folks, I just received an official USCIS notification about the interview being "De-Scheduled"! 😭

Although I believe this is not common, it seems this happened before to others seeking naturalization, at least from what is reported in the forum.

Any idea on why and when the interview will be re-scheduled?

...this is really stressful and unfortunately there was no reason reported on why my interview was "de-scheduled", beside reporting "....due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled interview.."...

Thanks all..

Here is some anecdotal observations from my browsing over countless posts related to this topic.  Feel free to correct me if you do not agree.

It could be a number of reasons and there is no way to know.  But you may be able to get a hint by how far in advance you received the deschedule notification and whether or not you received a reschedule notification right away.

Sometimes you receive a call the morning of scheduled interview telling you not to come in.  Typically this will be followed by an online descheduled notification after an hour and a new scheduled date later in the day.  If this happens it MAY be due to some USCIS officer called in sick and they had to reschedule some of the interviewee that day.  If MAY also be somehow the A-file was not requested and they just found out that morning.

If interview deschedule is sent out in advance, it could be ANY reason.  I've heard someone who got interview descheduled and rescheduled multiple times because their A-file is stuck somewhere.  At that point only a FOIA request can shake the file loose.

I suggest making an urgent infopass because I needed my stamp for my I-751 when I was waiting to be interviewed when I went to get the stamp they told me that my interview was still scheduled although I received the cancelled email, notice and it was on my case status. So if u can’t get the infopass I would say still go to the interview I don’t know why this is happening but don’t trust it. Still go the worst that could happen your office tells you that your interview is being rescheduled. If I didn’t go to the infopass I wld have never known I still had an interview.
