I’ve read of one case of a person that never got an interview until citizenship. And it was marriage- based. We really don’t mind having an interview, it’s just curiosity.

My package is almost ready to go (except that I still need to actually fill out the I-751 hahaha). I’m a teacher, so my winter break starts really soon. Well, guess what I’ll be doing! Lol

My wife adjusted from a K1 back in 2014/2015.  We had an interview at that stage which was during a period a lot of folks were getting waivers.  The interesting thing is it seemed those that got interview like my wife had their case finalized much faster than those with interview waivers.  In fact there were quite a few questions here on VJ asking if there was a way to cancel the waiver and change to an interview.

Fast forward to 2016, my wife filed the I751 right at the time that process was slowing to a crawl, so in 12 months or so she decided to file the N400 and the Detroit office was moving those quite quickly at that time (I haven’t paid attention to the latest processing times).  Anyway, the N400 zipped through to an interview in about three month, so I came with her for that and the IO called us back together for a very brief I751 interview prior to my wife’s N400 interview.  So essentially my wife had an interview at every stage (even though I think the I751 interview was more a formality) and went from K1 entry in September 2014 to USC in early June 2018.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. We also adjusted from the K1 but in 2019. As of now we are not applying for the N400 just the i751 (I don’t know if that affects likelihood of an interview or not). I guess we’ll see. Did the gc interview in the beginning of 2020, no issues, and never received an rfe throughout this whole process. Definitely not going to include affidavits based on everyone’s comments!

You would not be able to file the N400 for about a year anyway, but if naturalization is the ultimate goal, it is not a bad idea to start that clock moving when the filing window opens up.  Also keep in mind that the I751 process is extremely slow, I believe they are issuing 2 year extension letters now.

Good Luck!

Yes, they do. If you spend some time on the i751 forum, you’ll read several cases of interviews. Some people that had an AOS interview get their interview waived for ROC, some don’t. It’s completely up to the officer to waive or not.

Affidavits are considered weak evidence compared to other evidence. Especially evidence of financial comingling. When are you filing? I am filing end of January/ beginning of February and I made a new thread for February filers.

Hi. Where can I find your thread for February filers?
