Travel and work approved after AoS denied?

Our Adjustment of Status interview was on December 3rd and adjustment was denied because I had requested to withdraw the I-864 and my wife had requested to withdraw the I-485.

Then today I received notice (dated December 14th) that the Application for Travel Document and Application for Employment Authorization had been approved. We have yet to receive any other correspondence from USCIS since the interview date.

Looking at the receipt numbers, these are the ones we filed with (no denied) I-485 way back when. Any idea what could be going on here?

What is your overall plan?   Leaving the US?

I forget, did she do Biometrics?

So she can not have filed an AR11 if you got the notice. Being picky you should not have opened it, just return it.

OP, were  you successful in pulling out of the I-864? Did you get an official letter or something? If so, and you go on with the divorce, the EAD card is none of your business. From now on, it’s her immigration journey and she has to deal with the consequences of her decisions. You focus on you!

In your previous post people told you NOT to attend the interview. Why did you go?

The EAD and Advance Parole documents are processed at a different facility from your I-485.  If the underlying I-485 was denied, then the associated EAD and AP documents are voided.

Thank you. I was hoping it was something along those lines.

I haven't received any written confirmation about the I-684 being successfully withdrawn, just the comments to that effect by the interviewer and her supervisor (whom she invited into the interview to make sure everything was in order - which it apparently was). That's my main concern, plus the effect approved documents could have on the divorce proceedings. But it sounds like this is just a glitch in the system and doesn't really mean anything. I appreciate the help.

So what now?  Can she self-sponsor to adjust status?

Of course she can't, they are heading for divorce, there is no basis plus OP said she withdrew the I-485 anyway.

I still don’t understand why OP attended the interview, when they were told not to do so on a previous post…

OP wanted to make sure the process did not proceed.
