Could this mean that immigrants/visitors coming to the US will need a booster? When would that requirement change?

Here in Korea, they're telling us to get our booster after 3 months.

Won't be surprised if countries start requesting twice a year boosters...

I assumed I'd need to get a booster when I arrive in the States but looks like I'll be getting my fourth or fifth shot by the time I get settled.

ETA: The States will probably state you're vaccinated if you had your 2nd shot but if you haven't got a booster by X months you're back to being unvaccinated. Here in Korea, our vaccines are invalidated after 6 months. So, it'll probably depend on when the States believes people should get their 3rd shot.

It is interesting how they seem to know right away that vaccines are effective with the latest variant, but have no idea how severe the variant itself is.

Yeah, and they seem to be forgetting that there are 4 other coronaviruses that cause the common cold. Based on South Africa data, Omicron seems to be a huge leap in that direction. Not to minimize the risks toward the elderly and immunocompromised, these travel bans, vaccine mandates, and lockdowns over what now seems to be becoming a common cold are becoming silly.
