Can I cross border patrol checkpoints in Texas with pending AOS packet?

Hi all, my Indonesian wife and I are recently married and have submitted our I-864 AOS packet.   She has not gotten approved for her travel document or employment authorization yet but it is being reviewed.  We would like to make a road trip to south Texas to visit my family but it would involve crossing a border patrol inspection on the return trip back.  Will she be able to do this if all we have is the I-797 receipt that her AOS packet is received and being processed or does she have to wait to receive her  travel/employment authorization card?

you can leave the country until advance parole is approved. the moment you cross border your AOS will be considered abandoned.

No we wont be in Mexico, we will stay in Texas near the border, but in Texas as well as other border states, there is Border Patrol check points on all highways headed inland  They are usually found around 30-60 miles away from the border.

Then you should be absolutely good to go! For peace of mind, take the NOAs, her passport, and the marriage certificate.
