Improve Government Services

Because of his low, very low approval ratings, Joey said he’ll improve some Government Services. One of them being Passport application process time.

 I wish he would have said he would improve the K1 & other VISA application process time.

Even back when I had Mrs.-T-B.-to-be's I-129F in processing limbo, my Congressman's aide said, "USCIS is our VERY worst Federal agency."  Little has changed.

Also most Americans never interact with or use USCIS so I think it's very bottom of the barrel for most politicians. They will not win any votes by saying "We need to improve processing times at USCIS!" but they will get media coverage/attention if they shout generic things about immigration (either pro or against) to appeal to their base. So, regardless of approval ratings, I don't see anything changing with USCIS any time soon. 😕

To be honest, not really sure they are the worst as there are so many to choose from.  That being said, I am happy that for the most part we are done with USCIS at least for another 14-15 years.

I can think of many ways off the top of my head to make the process more efficient. How about not asking for the same information repeatedly at different stages of the process? Also allowing applications to be submitted online might speed things up. Another suggestion that some might not like. Stop putting illegals to the head of the line and prioritize paying legal immigrants first. By the way its unfair that USCIS is 100% funded by application fees yet many times illegals don't have to pay meaning legal immigrants pay more to cover illegals. That should be ended. It wont though because the left cares more about illegals than legal immigrants despite telling everyone they are pro immigration.

He has done a wonderful job speeding up immigration times. Sadly  its all on the Southern border and its all illegal

They changed that recently with a lot of forms and it doesn't seem like it sped anything up. If anything, things just seem to slow down more and more every year.

Does USCIS process illegal immigrants? It seems like whenever someone here on VJ posts who overstayed/entered illegally posts, they end up having bans and have to leave the country to even get started with USCIS, or also file for waivers which is also a super slow process. I'm just curious what you mean and how it ties into USCIS and how it would be affecting others who are applying. Are they allocating more people to work on waivers or something? I'm not being sarcastic, I am legitimately curious how USCIS handles these cases and how they are bypassing the line if so.

 

I knew someone who had a child with an illegal immigrant (walked over the Mexican border and had been living here for decades illegally), and she wanted him to stay here through marriage since they had a child together. A lawyer told them there's absolutely no way he could stay inside the US while any kind of USCIS processing was going on and that he would have to return to Mexico for that and also wait out the ban as well as visa processing and could only re-enter the US with a proper visa. So, I just don't know what to think, it seems like USCIS doesn't process illegals unless it's an asylum/refugee case, if you can point to sources or info I'd be curious to know.

The USCIS has been busy playing Candy Crush while in the bathroom stall for some time now, years before Joe got here. Don't expect any progress or improvement.

Yeah, it just would seem insane that the entire reason for the backup would be asylum applications.

 

I found the USCIS 2020 Annual Report:

According to this, refugee & asylum cases actually went down in 2020 quite a lot from previous years:

 

 

 

Yet, despite that, it seems like 2020 was one of the slowest/worst years for other processing. I guess they'll just blame Covid. I just don't think the asylum/refugee cases are the reason based on this. Of course it will be interesting to see what their 2021 report looks like when that is out.

 

I'm not saying there isn't illegal immigration, I just don't think USCIS is as involved in that as people think. I mean, "illegal" means they would probably avoid USCIS like the plague is my guess, and would want to just continue living under the radar, doing odd jobs for cash/under the table. N-400 processing rate in 2020 is abysmally lacking (reflected here on VJ where people are still waiting) and AOS via family went down, too. I'm not sure where K-1 I-129F's are, don't see it listed in the report, nor do I see ROC I-751's. It appears they are working on I-130's, if that number is to be believed....reality here on VJ makes people feel otherwise!
