Hello,

The day is finally here where I am travelling to the US. I want to be know what is required of me at immigration? I have the packet that is my visa that I received at my interview. Is there anything else I need to present? Will I be asked many questions?

Are you flying out of Ireland?  I believe Dublin has US CBP pre-flight, so you go through everything before your flight.

Bring any other important documentation from home, certified birth certificates, etc.  My husband's K-1 was processed at a Washington/British Columbia land border by a CBP officer who had never done a K-1, so it took a bit of time.  You may have to go to secondary so that they can admit you and keep the line moving.

Yes, I flew out of Dublin, with the pre-clearance. I was taken to secondary but wasn't asked too much. Can you point me in the right direction of what I need to do now? Apply for a SSN?

Oh, you're here already?!  Welcome!

Yes, SSN is the first thing you should do, as well as the marriage license.  Your partner can work on having you added to accounts (utilities, phone, cable, credit cards, try to open a joint bank account, etc).

If you drive, you can look into what it would take to get a state driver's license.  You're in Michigan, right?  Have a look at the Michigan state department of licensing/DMV website.  Some states allow foreign drivers to use their license for 30 days.  My husband came from NZ with 30+ years of driving experience, but had to re-test for a Washington state driver's license.

Also, some states issue DLs without regard to immigration status, but based on residency (proof of address) in the state.  Not sure about Michigan.   For the states that require a green card, it is a big draw back for the K-1.
