Received the NOA (2/15) in the mail today and my case was updated saying a biometrics appt was scheduled so will get that in the mail soon hopefully

Hi, I'm curious how you got a biometrics appointment scheduled so quickly? I thought USCIS were taking 18-24 months to process I-751 applications?

No idea to be honest! I checked on my case today and it was updated to “biometrics appointment was scheduled”. I didn’t know that normally it takes a long time, I was actually hoping they would waive them like i’ve seen for other people

wow that's wild. I had heard that for most people they become eligible for citizenship before their ROC petition gets adjudicated. Congrats on beating the odds!

I think you’re mixing stuff. Just because he got his biometrics so fast, it doesn’t mean that ROC will be approved fast

Ah, you may be right. I thought you only got the biometrics appointment after your petition had been approved.

No. Biometrics is for the background check . Why would they run a background check after you’ve been approved?

Received mine yesterday as well and the NOA is dated the same 2/15. It was from Potomac service center although it’s says MSC is that normal? I need to check my case updates online to see if the biometrics updated

Hopefully it doesn't get rejected this time, as green card expires on the 27th.

Have been thinking of your case, did you hear anything yet? Fingers crossed you hear soon. 🤞

What happens after the 27th if you haven't heard anything?

I've not heard anything here yet.. I'm hopeful to at least get a text message before Thursday as I'm travelling to the UK and worried I might miss a text message whilst I'm away.

Got a text this morning and our credit card was charged on a Friday. So seems it went well and we should get the extension letter soon, hopefully.

Fingers crossed you hear something before your travels!

Hi all! Keeping an eye on progress for everyone and hoping to receive my letter this week… sadly not my Hogwarts one!

Perhaps this has been answered elsewhere, but what happens if your green card expires before you receive the extension letter? Mine expires on the 27th but as I don’t have the extension letter in hand, I’m concerned about what my status would be on say the 28th.

Any input would be appreciated.

Your status will be the same: permanent resident. Your status doesn’t expire. What expires is the green card itself.

You remain a permanent resident until an immigration judge rules the opposite.

Thanks for the prompt reply Rocio0010. That’s what I had figured but the niggle in the back of my head said it couldn’t be true! 😆

Yeah. I mean, it sounds scary, but it’s not like ICE will be knocking on your door on the 28th. No offense, but they have bigger fish to fry.
