Hello All,

my grandparents had an interview on December 14th at us embassy in Abu Dhabi for IR5 visa. After interview the consular said we need clearance and after 2-4 weeks we will contact you to send passports. Meanwhile he said all electronic documents is complete but just upload i-864 because it doesn’t show it on our end. I explained to him we have originals. He said just upload. I also explained to him that NVC had a glitch when I upload it and had to submit multiple times. He also asked for my grandfather to upload his military service exemption.
Today a day after that I’m checking the status it says “refused” for my grandfather and “ready” for interview for my grandmother.

any clue what is 2-4 week clearance check??

i even asked the officer if there is a problem and he said this is a normal process

IR5 - for grandparents?  Did your father or mother petition for your grandfather and grandmother?

By clearance I assume they mean background checks...i.e., adminstrative processing.  It could take 2-4 weeks or take longer.  Have the petitioner check with the embassy after the 4 weeks to check the status, or check the online status on CEAC.

My mother applied for them. The interview was just yesterday. The Ceac status says refused for grandfather and ready for grandmother. Ready as ready for interview
