Wednesday December Case Updates (tracking the changes from Monday)

I am one of the many (and increasing number) in the RFER -> Waiting for decision stage.

It looks like 27 new cases have joined mine bringing the observed count to 117 waiting for decision.

(an update about this will be posted on Friday)

This chart as developed treats RFE and RFER identically whereas now it is clear that these are two very different steps.
I will continue to use the Burndown, day charts (posted Friday), and RFE status (posted Friday) to help get the best picture possible.

Based on the burndown chart, if your case was untouched, then it is still more likey to be decided rather than entering the RFE wait.
For those who are with me in the RFE loop, just hoping we get some activity soon.

Total activity including "expedite" & "mailed documents"

Wednesday Burndown (unopened case report)

Unlike my other report, this one tracks the activity at USCIS from last Friday (COB) to today.
It was intended to see where USCIS was opening cases for the first time. (generally, resulting in a Decision or RFE)

My observations on the data.
The results for December are better in one way.  For cases that are just opened, the majority (>58%) are decided.

That abruptly changes in November where if the case is opened, it is far more likely to be issued an RFE.

All cases before (and including) 10/22 are eligible for a case inquiry.
Decembers case inquiry (if USCIS does not further delay it) is May (your day), 2023.
Lets hope that USCIS puts a little more action into our month soon.

Best Week of (previously untouched) cases, opened 31 for week of:     2021-12-31

Total (previously untouched) cases opened :    170 (across all of 2021)

I'm in the same boat...Dec. 21. I did look and they are hiring. 🤣

But seriously, I think I have to stop obsessing. At least until May. Sigggggh.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the people posting stats.

and wanted to say we are right there with the folk still waiting. The lack of any control is so hard and the indifference of bureaucracy so cold. You all are in our thoughts as we press on with the wait.

it's a process....  it's a life lesson on patience for sure.. Dec 22 2021.. still waiting

Guys and gals, any idea behind why is the processing time went up? I know you folks has seen this before when you got caught up with the COVID.

The processing times reflect the data from the past 6 months. So it’s retrospective, not a projection into the future. They have been processing significantly more cases lately (enough to reduce the backlog) so probably the next update will be a decrease in number.

That being said, it means that we, those left behind, will have to wait an additional whole month to be able to make an inquiry. That is very unfortunate.

BURNDOWN UPDATE: I had said all cases before 10/22 "were" eligible for a case inquiry, that is no longer true. The adjustment to 16.5 months now means Sept cases can ask but October must wait again.

Please pay close attention to Inquiry date or you may have to wait longer (like this latest slip just caused)

Wow. Terrible numbers for December and honestly not amazing numbers overall for November, January and February as well. Could they be working now on a wider range of months trying to clear backlog? :( I wish the August/September and October scanners were still active to be fair. Maybe just a bad day overall.
