I got curious about RFE processing as I am in the middle of that process as well, So I ran some statistics (included below)

Mar 06 - Online Observe RFE
Mar 10 - Post Office Delivers Letter
Mar 10 - Returned to Post Office
TBD ?? - Received by USCIS
TBD ?? - Next Step ...

So I mined a few RFEs to see how long it took to get the next step and counted back the days (by calander days) to see when the RFER (response) and RFIE (Request for Initial Evidence) or RFE (Request for Additional Evidence Was Sent) happened.

Here is the data I have (formatted as follows)

It seems to me that the RFE, RFER and approval turnaround time is faster this year than those from 2022 (as per the examples).  So if I am interpreting the data correctly, RFE are adding about 3-4 weeks.

totally unclear how long it takes them to open the letter for RFER .... mine was sent the same day it was received and I live 2 cities away so will document my experience.

That seems to be (generally) the biggest time gap and time from RFE to approval is seeming to trend downwards ... might make for an interesting graph at some point.(I.e. RFER to Decision)

also notice, USCIS doesn't seem to react well to expedite requests .... do not do one or might add significant time to your case.

I had my RFER a week ago (today is day 6). Will also update with (hopefully) approval.

great idea to make a graph of it!

The info I had from the start was that expedites do not delay your case, but I agree it’s proving to be the contrary :( I didn’t have a reason to so I didn’t request it, but feel bad for those that had a reason but were denied.

And if you don’t mind me asking, what was your RFE for? I know some are super personal so no worries if you can’t share.

February 2022 I-129F K1 Case Status Spreadsheet can be found here.
NVC Timelines spreadsheet can be found here.

had forgotten her divorce papers in the huge packet ... so they asked for them and I sent them back the same day the letter arrived.

Had a funny thought about selling "squares" as to which day the USCIS might "receive" the papers (as they are just two towns over and I am certain the envelope was there Saturday).

Won't do it though because any chance the found out that I did could be bad (especially if I won as it might be considered illegal gambling ... lol)

Depends on a number of factors,

Just got an update (and will post once approval hits) that says USCIS is moving a touch faster and partly depends on the filer.

For example, MY RFER was just opened well after working hours on 3/13 and then dated 3/14 (who hoo).

That said, I live two towns away from USCIS (in CA), put my papers in the post office that day using the provided envelope

So, would not say 2 months at this point ....
