My gf is here on her tourist visa. We decided to get married already so we got our marriage license two days ago. We live in the boonies, so the courthouse isn't backlogged and got it scheduled for Friday. Already hired a lawyer to help us with the green card and preparing all the forms already.

you are held responsible for reading and approving the petitions and giving the attorney all proper documents

i say this as when u sign anything ,  it has to be correct and many mistakes have been made and posted on  this site

so,  read before u sign

and not sure why u are using a lawyer,  not needed but since u have one ,  beware of all things,    keep copies of everything u provide now and in the future

Not sure why you are hiring a lawyer either but like @JeanneAdil said make sure everything is correct.

Is there a requirement to have a question when you post?

Nope. But I genuinely don’t know what OP is expecting by not posting a question and not having a complete profile.

Congratulations in advance! Unless you have complications in your case (ex. previous visa denials/deportations, criminal history, etc), you don't need a lawyer and can DIY everything.

There are several people who have been advising him in the Philippines forum and he was just updating to his progress. There are a lot of us (regulars) who only come to this sub-forum. A lot of us update others without having a question. He hasn't done a timeline because he didn't get married or file for visa yet.

Congratulations. No lawyer needed. Save yourself a bunch of money and go on a nice honeymoon. We are right after you on the 21st.
