Hello,

I have been in a relationship with my girl for a long time.  COVID and other things threw a wrench into the works.  We met in person the first time in June of 2019.  Then we met a couple more times and then COVID happened.  There were closed borders, she had COVID and was down for 6 weeks and etc...

My question is since the requirement is meeting in the last 2 years, what date, and what meeting do I put on my petition.  The first date in 2019 or the first one in the last 2 years.  Number of trips is not an issue, just which do I use to fill out the K1 Petition.

Thanks,

Brian

First, mark "yes" on Part 2, 53.  Then I would put the last date you were together on question 54.  Item 54 is an explanation of the "Yes" answer to item 53.  You can elaborate more about how you met in Part 8, additional information or put that in the cover letter.

Your first meeting, in June 2019, is not within the last 2 years.  I would not lead with that meeting.  I would lead with the last time you were together, which I assume was within the last 2 years (on or after Dec 11, 2019).

I wouldn't even try to make it that complicated. You are just trying to meet the requirements for the K1 to get approved by USCIS. I would put the last time you met ( The most recent as long as it was within 2 years), and go with that. The only requirement is that you have met 1 (Once) within two years. You don't want to give them too many dates to lull over. KISS is king when it comes to USCIS. Maybe add proof of meetings and trips if you feel the need to " Front load" the petition(I did with mine with a cover letter and some additions on the back end, separate from the actual petition), but on the actual I-129F form keep it as straight forward and simple as possible. They see one date over 2 years past your filing date on the form, and the rocket scientists at USCIS think you didn't meet the requirement and deny the petition outright. They aren't known for their stellar academic skills.
