Visa Update On Approval

I wanted to let my friends and family of VJ know how things are going with our visa. On July 2, 2007 we had our interview at the Lagos Embassy and was approved for our visa. My fiance was given his approval letter and told to come back on July 5, 2007 to pick up the visa. When he got to the Embassy the visa was not ready for pick-up. He was then told to come back the next day and he did and still not ready for pick up. Today when I called the Embassy I talked to the lady who interviewed my fiance and she said that the computer that does the visas is down and the technician is out of town. She said for us to call back in a couple of days. I am posting this information so that other VJers going through the Lagos Embassy will know what is going on there. So we are still waiting to be reunited and hoping it will be soon.

You know, the Lagos embassy is totally ridiculous! I wonder what are they really trying to pull. I know that they may not be up to par on computer equipment, but really! I've heard these type of scenarios happening over and over again. I heard of one person that couldn't pick up their visa because they were missing a piece of evidence. How come they didn't tell them during the interview? Sorry, just had to vent a little there. Anyway, keep a stiff upper lip Kelechi. You will soon see each other and rejoice in happiness together. Eventually, all will be well. I am rooting for you. GO TEAM!

it happens all the time with equipment so you will be fine, if it was for some other reason they would have told you that. Ours wasn't ready on the pick up date and it has happened to others. Congrats.

Kelechi,

I am happy that you made it through the interview process. My fiance often says that the embassy justs acts up sometimes (you have to imagine the accent, lol). Here's a little of my story. I met my fiance online at a same faith Christian website on June14. After some resistance because I didn't want t deal with immigration headaches :D I gave in. I always wanted to go to Africa since I was a little girl. Heck, my house looks like an African magazine. Anyway, after communicating for 6 months I decided to go to Nigeria in Dec. 2006. We were engaged. I missed Africa so much that I returned in April for a second visit. I would return now if I wasn't working on my doctorate right now. I filed K-1 paperwork in January 2007. My fiance will be going for his Interview on August 1. He is very eloquent, which I'm hoping will help with the interviewing process.

I am so nervous. He isn't, although he is stressing me out about all these extra documents. Besides the normal documents that they are asking for, I am providing the following:

1. Notarized letter from parents (he speaks to them regularly)

2. Letter from wedding coordinator

3. Wedding purchase receipts, reception site contract, wedding photographer contract

4. Wedding invitation

5. Wedding website address

6. Moneygram receipts that I have sent him

7. Personal letter from me (notarized)

8. Pictures

9. Emails

Is there anything else that you think I should provide? Can I give a photocopy of my employment verification letter for AOS or does it need to be the original? I would appreciate anything you can tell me, especially about the inter

Though my fiance is not from Nigeria, I wanted to let you know, you are not the only one having problems getting the visa. My fiance had his interview, this past Monday and was told to come today to get the visa. He went and was told they are having problems with their machine running too slow and they are not able to give it to him today. He was told to come back next friday. He said there were other people in line for their visa, who said it's their 2nd week coming for it and still nothing. The slip he was given says on the bottom, do not make travel arrangements, it is not a guarantee the visa will be issued on the date listed above. So, we'll just keep waiting.
