John in SC,

Read the I-485 instructions. The answer is there, and it's quite clear.

I know we did two complete sets for the visa paperwork----is that necessary again or is it just for the foreign spouse this time?

John in SC.

Thanks! I thought I'd seen something about it somewhere but I couldn't remember where it was.

I would like to give my experience and it may differ due to our filing under the District Office Rapid Adjustment (DORA) program:

While they were confirming all the paperwork, they said I was missing my G-325a.......They required me to fill out a single G-325a (Not the four copies) for myself (I am the USC). I was very surprised as the instructions didn't say anything of the sort was required. When I later questioned the Case Officer about it, he said it was a precaution in case they couldn't locate the originals from the K1 visa (well, at least he was honest). He said that if that happened, the new G-325a would just allow the processing to continue (We were filling for EAD and AOS concurrently, so he may just have meant the processing of the EAD..... in either case, it wasn't like I was going to say no!).

I agree wholeheartedly with everyone else that the instructions don't require anything of the sort, but I found it very interesting how prudent the folks at the local district office were regarding lost paperwork.....Even to the point of warning us that if they couldn't find our original records in DC, the only thing that would be required by us would be another medical exam (I had brought almost the entire K-1 "Backup" package, and CO nearly took it all!) As for the medical thing, it does seem to confirm what we are seeing on this forum from other folks that have gotten a RFE for a full medical and obviously, the CO has encountered this issue before. (Of course, I think I would escalate it to my Congresspersion or Senator before I ask my wife to go through a medical again).

Good LUCK!
