The ONLY thing I can think of that might not have been wrong is I put 42,000 as my current income, instead of what I had made to date when we sent in the form that would have caused them to kick it back.

I still don’t think you understand CURRENT income as it applies to Form I-864. It is not Year to Date. It is what you make right now calculated out to one year from today.

So for example—

if your pay today was $3500 per month, you calculate $3500 x 12 months = $42,000 current income.

BUT you have to prove that, if your tax return doesn’t show that much. You can prove it with the employer letter. However if that letter says $41, 888 then you don’t put the higher number $42,000 on your form because you have not proven $42,000.

Yup. You shouldn’t have sent the tax returns plus the w2s. It’s either or. Easiest way is to download the transcripts straight from the IRS website

@DesiJase FYI

The above quoted reply you got is not accurate. A tax return has to have a W2 with it as explained before in this thread and in the instructions for Form I-864.

@Rocio0010

The either/or is

Tax return + Wage statement (W2, 1099)

  —or—

Transcript with nothing else.
