What if we both go to the interview? Is it going to help proof our relationship? Am I allowed to go to the embassy with my fiancee? Thanks!

Depends on the embassy or consulate. In some places, the petitioner is not allowed to attend the interview. Other places encourage both people to show up.

This is the same question I asked a week or so ago. As my fiance and I live together, he's planning to come to the interview with me. Almost everyone has said that your fiance being with you is the best proof of all that you are in a consistant relationship. So, if your embassy allows, I'd say yes without a shaddow of a doubt!

Good luck.

Would the interview be in Bucharest, Romania? Here's a quote directly from their web site.

THE VISA APPLICATION AND INTERVIEW

Visa interviews are considered a private affair between the consular officer and the applicant. Third parties, including lawyers, are generally not allowed to be present at the interview.

filafila,

No, you attending the interview is not proof of a bona fide relationship. You may well have been paid to attend in hopes that it would be.

Surely this won't apply to my situation as my fiance and I have been living together for the last two years? Our address is the same and has been stated as being the same on our I-129F.

Precisely. Contact the Embassy as stated above. I know the Sydney Australian Embassy allows this, but the Embassy in which you will be having your interview may not allow this. It is best to check with them first because they are constantly changing procedures and rules and it is better to hear it from the horses mouth. If they do say that you can attend, then print out that e-mail and take it with you to the interview. You should have it in writing either way.

Good advice Rings, thanks!

I'm about 99% sure that it's fine for him to attend over here in Ireland too. Again, I'm going to check just before we get to this stage to make sure.

redpixie,

It does not seem to apply in your situation, as you descibe it.

Some immigration scam groups have gone to such extremes, however, as to pay USC's for an overseas trip to add an appearance of legitimacy to the visa application.

I agree with Yodrak here in that it does not prove the validity of the relationship. If anything you should be together for moral support. You cannot prove that you have a relationship by merely standing next to each other.

This is what I recommend:

Get sworn affidavits from all your friends and family stating the nature of your relationship and have them sign the statement in front of a notary and stamped (certified) and bring these with you in case you need them. It is best to have them from both sides of the family of course.

Phone bills, e-mails, letters and any other forms of communication that you can prove (You need to prove time here so you want a good assortment of date rages) and things without dates and times and all that may be less effective.

Study the sample questions in the guides and test each other on what you may not possibly know about each other... for example, I had my husband memorize my mothers address in case. The more you know about each other, then the better off you will be.

Bring photos and all travel documents to prove that you were in the same places at the same times. Bring credit card statements of when you spend money in that country (visa versa)

Call all of the people who bill you to see if you can put his name with your name on the bills. some of them may do it and some will not. If you can get bills with both your names, then that will prove your intent to begin merging your lives together. For Example: i put my husband on my medical insurance so that I would get a medical card with both our names on it. It provides yet another form of proof that you are beginning to take the neccessary measures to have a married life.

REMEMBER: IF IT IS NOT ON PAPER THEN IT DOES NOT EXIST. THE USCIS DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING THAT THEY CANNOT SEE IN BLACK AND WHITE.... PERIOD

otherwise it's just ####### that's made up to them.

make copies of everything... you will need copies of everything in AOS. I mean every tiny scrap of paper. Good luck! *hugs*

Yordak,

I know what you're saying. The UK/Ireland media comment on similar problems with our visa systems a lot. Unfortuantely, there does seem to be a lot of people in this world that see people from certain countries (US, UK and Western Europe especially it seems) as a "meal ticket" and there are a lot of untoward applications entering the systems.

Thanks for the info as concerns to us. Obviously, we can prove that our relationship is very genuine, seens as we have not only lived together for 2 years, but moved to different places just to be together.

With that, I'm going to give my gorgeous fiance a huge kiss :X

Rings,

I cannot find the words to express how strongly i disagree with this.

The decision is going to depend first and foremost on the visa officer's impression of the person they see standing before them. The paper is just for the file - it will be used to support whatever decision the consular officer makes, deemed sufficient or insufficient, based on the officer's personal assessment of the person.
