Changing name after getting married

We just got married in November (K1) and now we want to change her last name. I'm getting several different answers on how to legally do that. The County Clerk that issued the Marriage License said we need to the do that with Social Security. But obviously she does not have a SSN yet. I've also heard that in Ohio we don't need to do anything and can simply change it. However, we got married in Kentucky, so I heard we have to go by their State Law. I've reached out to a couple Lawyers and I'm still getting conflicting information. Anyone know what we need to do?

Name change for K1s begins with filing AOS in married name.

Others IDs are obtained in married name once first immigration benefit is issued (EAD or GC, whichever comes first).

I agree, USCIS recognized the marriage certificate as a legal name change document for changing one's family name, so fill out the AOS forms (I485/I131/I765) with the desired new family name, then you can change any other ID or get a SSC with that name once you get either the EAD or the GC in the new name.

Good Luck!
