AddisIV@state.gov
emailed using the above address to the US embassy in Ethiopia, Adis Ababa. They said they haven’t received my expedite request from nvc that I requested back in November, 2021. The nvc also said that since the us embassy in Ethiopia suspended the visa processing, there’s no where to send my request 😭😭

I feel so terribly sad 😞

Oh, did someone actually respond to you at the email? I still haven't gotten one. But yes, NVC told me the same thing.

This is what they replied to me within the same day of my email request:

“Thank you for contacting the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa.

According to our records, the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa has not received the files from the National Visa Center (NVC).  You can verify this by visiting the following website:  https://ceac.state. gov/CEACStatTracker/Status. aspx.  The following will provide you with more information concerning the scheduling process after all necessary fees have been paid and the required immigrant visa application, Affidavit of Support, and supporting documents submitted.

Once the case becomes qualified for an interview, NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy to schedule an appointment for the beneficiary. An interview appointment letter is sent to the applicant, the petitioner, and agent/attorney (if applicable) to notify all parties of the date, time, and location of the interview. There may be a wait of several months for an interview date to become available. Once an interview appointment is scheduled, NVC sends the immigrant visa petition, visa application, and all related forms and documents which were submitted to NVC to the embassy.

When the case is qualified for interview, the case will be forwarded to the embassy by NVC

Aha! Always great to have someone with an inside track. Thanks for sharing! I hope we will all start to see some movement in the near future!

Is the insider information true? Is any activity happening in relation to visas issuance? Could you please share information regrading transferring to other embassies? I know some people got non immigrant visa from Djibouti.

I heard from a second source here in the city that they are embassy workers should have returned now. As far as when they are resuming services...that's a totally different question as officially, they are still claiming "services suspended."

As far as transferring, I never got anywhere with it. I contacted several embassies (including Djibouti) who all said they could not accept the case if we did not live there. NVC said the same, but also included that if the beneficiary had ever lived in another country, it might be possible to transfer there. That is all I know.

I actually spoke to real people today! I was told they are still only processing emergency cases, but people have, in fact, returned and maybe at some point (2 months from now, who knows?) things will return to normal processing. And by normal, of course, I mean that everything is still going to have an insane backlog.

Thank you for the information. A person who is working in the embassy  also told to a friend that they may start processing visas starting Next Week. But do not take my word as things are either not true or decision are changing frequently. Anyway, fingers crossed.
