Biometric with skin peeling

My fiancée had her biometric appointment and 2 of her fingertips were peeling due to dry winter conditions. I am not sure how her fingerprints came out for those 2 fingers (ring and pinky on right hand). The agent there told her a line showed up in one of the fingerprints? and if she’s asked at POE about it to let them know that it was due to skin peeling. She did ask to pull the skin out and retry to which the agent said it won’t be necessary 

 

Is this going to cause issues at POE with verification?

If the office where the fingerprints were taken had no issue, your fiancée should not be concerned.

I don't think so, people who have skin conditions have known issues with fingerprints. I think that's why they are constantly having people re-do biometrics whenever you need something from USCIS.

 

If they were not concerned about it, I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Thanks! He asked her if there’s something wrong with her fingers first and then just let her know to mention to the CBP officer if asked that she had dry peeling skin. She feels silly about not noticing it and moisturizing her hands sooner now lol.

Moisturizing helps! My MIL has horrible eczema on her hands and so every time she does fingerprints for a visa or crossing a border, her prints come out different. When the officers see her hands, they understand that there is nothing they can do. Technology doesn't always work for everyone and thankfully I think they know that.

Agreed. She doesn’t have permanent skin issues and has been fingerprinted before during international trips with no problems. The peeling skin she has now should be gone by the time she makes her US entry. So the possibility of a slight difference when she gets fingerprinted again was what came up. We live and learn!

Please complete a timeline

 

 

peeling skin can overlap and/or fold but that is easy to spot

and new skin has same fingerprints as old skin /it doesn't change
