Hi Everyone,

I applied for J1 waiver to DoS in September 2021. The mail tracking shows that the documents were received on September 24, 2021 and the Indian embassy sent the NOC on Oct 4, 2021. J1 waiver tracking portal shows nothing till today. I am really stressed about it. Is it normal?

Looking forward to any suggestions. Thank you!

Hi guys

Thanks so much for sharing your timeline and tips. I wanted to share mine to help others as well.

All document sent - July, 2021

NOS sent - July, 2021

system update (all document received except NOS)  - Sep 28th, 2021

NOS received - Oct 3rd, 2021

Recommendation Sent Feb 4th, 2022

I've sent a inquiry email right after 16 weeks passed from the date of "NOS received" on the system - but not responded. I'll update the later steps if I get more.

Hello everyone,

A quick update on my case, I got a favorable recommendation from DOS on January 19th. Here's my timeline so far:

1- Case file sent end of August

2- NOS letter sent from embassy first week of September

3- Case received October 21st

4- NOS letter resent from embassy on December 13th

5- NOS letter received December 14th

6- Favorable recommendation January 19th

Should I contact USCIS now or just wait for them? Thanks!

Update: I just received the Notice of Action from USCIS by mail today (Feb 8th). I checked the case status online and it says that they received the recommendation from DOS on Feb 2nd, so it took almost two weeks for recommendation to reach them from DOS

Hello,  I wonder if there is anyone who has not received the FR yet?

- I mailed by docs at the end of Aug, NOS was sent first week of Sept.

- Oct 25 - all docs were displayed but NOS. My Embassy mailed it twice after that

- Feb 3rd - NOS appeared dated on OCT 25, just like others docs

It s been 16 weeks since the docs were displayed online. Does anyone know how long I should wait more to receive a decision? Is anyone else waiting for their FR for over 16 weeks?

I also applied for a J-1 NOS waiver. Package delivered around 10/15,  the embassy a couple of days thereafter, so roughly 3 weeks behind your schedule. The J-1 waiver status portal does not show any documents as received as of today (1/10/22).

Hello, any updates about your status?

Oh, thank you! I sent my documents on 12/28/2021, it was delivered but not received by them. I emailed to ask, and the reply is as below:

"Thank you for contacting 212 Waiver Inquiries.  To date, the Wavier Review Division (WRD) has not received your waiver application.  Please note that if you recently submitted this application to our lockbox in St. Louis, it can take approximately twelve to fourteen weeks or more after delivery there to reach our office in Washington, D.C.  Due to management and financial control reasons, we cannot accept applications sent electronically.  "  😢

What does "more" mean? My Documents were delivered to St. Louis on Oct. 20 (18 weeks ago from today), but no record of this in WRD system.

They didn't use the word "more" in the reply of other applicant's email (tub77):

Thank you for your inquiry. We have checked our files and there is no record of having received your application.  If you have submitted your package along with the fee to the U.S. Bank in St. Louis, MO, your package will be forwarded to the Waiver Review Division in Washington, DC where it will be entered into the Waiver Review System.  At that time, you will be able to view the status of your case.  You should allow approximately 12-14 weeks from the time all documents were submitted before checking your status online.

Frustrating

It's simply an acknowledgment that their initial processing (from delivery to logging in the waiver application) is currently taking longer than their prior estimate of 12 to 14 weeks. The only redeeming factor is that we don't have to pay $510 for this service... DOS Proposes Sharp Increases to Visa and 212(e) Waiver Fees | NAFSA
