Hi all, I got my interview scheduled next month and I have 2 trips in the beginning of the 5 years are more than 6 months ... will this affect the officer decision in my naturalization.

Also I wanted to know from when they count the 5 years ... from the submittal date or the interview date?. because I applied for naturalization back in September 2020 and got my interview scheduled for January 2022, if they are going to count the 5 years from January 2022 then I will not have any trips more than 6 month ... but if they are going to count the 5 years from Submittal date September 2020 I will have 2 trips more than 6 months.

Thanks in advance 😊

Both.

Continuous residence is required at the time of application and at the time of interview and at the time of oath.

You need to bring evidences of maintaining the continuous residences during those over 6 months trips and convince the IO to be approved during the interview. It could be utility bills, lease, rental payments, phone bills, your spouse living in the US during those trips and such. I

My Family (Parents & Brother) were living in the US during those trips but my spouse lives outside the states and that's why I had to travel for long times to be with her until we get her US papers done .. I don't have any bills or payments under my name during that time.

In that case you were not supposed to file for the naturalization without fulfilling the requirements. Good luck.
