You need to keep the phone "moving"... so your case manager will call you if there is no phone activity (not using apps/ no pick ups etc).

They're also supposed to call you once or twice a day. So, if you're not at home when they call...

If you don't test positive after self -isolation is over.. I don't think anyone would know (if you managed to leave the house undetected) BUT if you test positive after you've been told to self-isolate they can and do pull up your credit and check card transactions and they'll check CCTV (CCTV is all over the place) to see if you ever left home during your quarantine.

As a foreigner you're deported if you break the rules and I believe its a fine of up to 10 million won (+/- USD $8000) or a year in prison for Korean citizens.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7711349/

Also, if you are non-compliant/ don't have a phone you're supposed to wear an ankle monitor.

Do they expect you to not sleep through all of quarantine?  Which Korea are we talking about?  Are you sure it's the South one?

We just crossed back into Arizona by land from Mexico last week and the agents never asked for proof of negative test/or vaccine.  We took our vaccine cards just in case.  This was all with the expired Green Card/18 month extension letter.  I am not sure if airports and land ports are doing different things or the same things.  They were supposed to ask tourists crossing from Mexico for the proof of vaccine but so far the agents are not enforcing it for the Mexican tourists.

land border agents dont care about the nonsense unless you carrying illegal drugs or smuggling something else. vaccine are so much of airline drama. one of the airlines didnt allow me to board cause the mark was not hospital type mask. Iam like more drama

Don't get me wrong. I love Korea and I fully support their policies :joy:

Don't want to derail but I just don't think the US could ever ape the strict requirements other countries enforce.

no amount of strict rules are going to stop the virus. its like you can stop breathing so you dont virus

Now, the White House is officially requiring a negative test within ONE DAY of departure  to the US starting Monday ....How is a person supposed to get a negative PCR test ONE DAY prior?   This is tyranny and nonsense!!!!!!  I am so angry right now!!!!!  Can it be a rapid test?

@Crazy Cat I've been monitoring the news all day. So far, no CDC confirmation that only PCR tests will be accepted... unless you can share a link that says otherwise.

Until I see updated regulations on the dedicated CDC page, I'm thinking/hoping both test types will be accepted:

I haven't found anything other than " a negative test".......I hope you are correct.

Anyone know what the false positive rate is?  Going to be depressing to show up at the airport and 15% of people get turned away because of bad tests.

Ocean liners are an interesting alternative.  You wouldn't even have to test anyone before getting on the boat because it would be assumed that everyone on board would catch covid during the journey.  Then just wait in port at the destination until everyone is feeling better.

Or just do what they now and not test anyone arriving in the USA.

I have zero math skills so maybe someone much smarter can make sense of this.

What is means is that if

* 400 people test negative then on average 1 of those is actually positive.

* 400 people test positive then on average 159 of them are negative.  So 159 people are needlessly locked up for 2 weeks.

Stupid test and stupid policy.
