Even though the new variant is NOT causing hospitalizations or deaths........this is a typical overreaction with no thought to logic or reason......it's craziness, imho.  Hopefully, this new 24 hour requirement will allow rapid testing.  The quarantine requirement is totally crazy!!!!!  The courts need to nip this in the bud.

I'm not sure.  My wife is currently in Taiwan, and she is currently scheduled to fly back to the US on December 9th....so I am watching this situation closely.  I am pretty unhappy with the current administration for making these changes with no solid data to prove it is needed.

Self-quarantines are a joke. I haven't heard of any country where that actually worked. You have to either do draconian monitored quarantines or set up field hospitals where people are forced to stay. Neither seem remotely doable in the US. Forcing people to quarantine in a hotel here would absolutely not fly either.

Thankfully the quarantine thing is still "under debate" so hopefully given the reasons I said above it will go nowhere. Even if a self quarantine were to be passed, nobody will enforce it or follow up on it.

My wife just had to undergo a strict mandatory 2 week quarantine in a Taiwan quarantine hotel (self pay) when she arrived there on November 2nd.  I guess I'm just nervous that something similar might be instituted in the US.  In reality, setting up something like that here would be impossible in the next week......

I hope she can just come over with the vax card and/or PCR test. From my experience, it was all checked with the airlines, CBP never asked anything about it. I'm not sure if non-citizens get asked at the border for anything Covid related. I got the impression CBP wanted nothing to do with Covid checking and they just expected the airline to handle it all.

I agree, self-quarantine would be impossible to police.  Heck, even if they forced some sort of phone app, people can do without their phone if necessary.

The fun self-quarantine in Canada was the Government periodically calling your cellphone to confirm you're at home. Seems that the Canadian feds haven't woken up to the possibility that a cellphone can be carried around. xD

I’m glad I’m not the only one seeing it. In Argentina people had to have a special permission to go from point A to point B. There was also a curfew (I didn’t know that the virus worked only 9-5) and some people “disappeared “ when they were found to be outside of their homes during certain times. Crazy!
