New SSN fails to verify?

Hi,

After much waiting and many attempts, my husband's SSN finally came in the mail today. I tried to upgrade him to a full user on my credit card, and it said his information could not be verified. I double-checked it a few times. His name is correct on the card and his name and birthday are right when we put them in.

I tried having him sign up to self-verify through USCIS, as some Google searching recommended, at https://myeverify.uscis.gov/ and that did not work.

Is this normal? Should I call the SSA again?

Thanks!

Sounds normal.  It sometimes takes a few months for records to migrate.  Contact the credit card company.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

It took a little while (a few weeks I think) for my SSN to be in any of these systems. If you are not in a big hurry, I would just wait a week or so and try again. Otherwise, your credit card company may have a different process for someone with a new SSN to be added, so I would reach out to them.

Okay, cool, thank you. We have waited this long so it is no big deal to wait more, as long as my work will put him on my health insurance...

I think I added my wife to my CC account as an authorized user about a month after she received her SSN.  4 months later, she had an established credit report accessible through Credit Karma.

They should be able to add him, but it may not work through any online system they may have. It is possible you will need to contact them and speak to an actual person who will manually add him.

One thing I have learned since I moved to the US, is that systems move very, very slowly here. The issue will get resolved, it just takes time.

Thank you so much! I will wait about a month for non-necessary things and I will try to get my HR to add him before the window closes. But they and my apartment manager have been extremely difficult about things, so I hope they will listen!
