Best POE Airport for First Landing After Immigration Visa

Dears,

I recently obtained an Immigration visa (I-551 Permanent Residence for IR-1). I am planning to travel in couple of months with my spouse. We have three options for POE:

1. Washington DC

2. New York

3. Detroit

 

Detroit is my preferred choice as the flight has one stop to rest in Frankfurt. For DC & NY options I have to take a 15-hour direct flight which is ok but not preferred.

 

Is there any recommendation for POE? Or all airports are the same? Kindly advise,

In my opinion the best POE is the one where your plane travel ends because if there is any delay at immigration you do not risk missing your next flight. 

When I arrived with a k1 the immigration office was quite crowded and it took a while to process it so knowing my husband was outside waiting with no rush to get into another plane helped curb the stress.

when doing connecting flights u need to go thru customs and immigration in "Most countries"  so look at the layover times and give yourself about 3 hours for any unseen issues like a delayed flight ,  weather, etc

 

JFK was easy 

DC depends on if Congress and government offices are open or closed for holidays (basically who's in town at the moment)

never did Detroit 

but many also come thru Chicago and they are good

I don't  know much about Detroit,D.C is fine too but jfk nyc is the best ,most immigration  officers are very friendly due to more exposure  to different  cultures and ethnicities. Never use Nework n.j . Many people  i know had faced very rude behaviour  even nasty sometimes  to genuine visa holders and foreign  students.
