Check this out to answer your question.

What type of visa is your family traveling with?

How will they travel to the USA: via plane or by car?

Which travel document visa did you apply for from Canada?

Did you apply for a transit visa or an e-TA?

Do your parents already have a physical GC?

You need either e-TA or transit visa to travel through Canada.

Hopefully it works out! Maybe call the airline to see if they accept the visa in the passport before you enter the USA for the first time.

Everything I read online suggests you need to have your physical green card OR ADIT stamp (with eTA).

Otherwise, you should apply for the transit visa (but I do not think you have enough time) or change your flights.

Sounds sketchy.

Not sketchy.

If you're an LPR in the States and you want to transit through Canada you're required to apply for an e-TA.

It's like ESTA. It costs $7 and you apply for it through the cic.gc.ca website

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

It also allows stays of up to 6 months.

Cambodians without LPR status have to apply for a transit visa or visitor visa depending on their circumstances.
