Receipt Notices Returned to USCIS

My wife and I filed our paper work at the National Service Center in Chicago on May 1. We were moving into our new place at the time we filed and we had put our new address on all of our paperwork. Unfortunately, our receipt notices were returned to USCIS during the entire month of May. It wasn't until June that we were able to find out that USCIS had sent us documents that were returned to them. In June we asked for them to resend us the receipts. However, when we spoke with a customer service person today, she told us that by requesting new receipts, we were delaying the process even further (that is, our AP would not be sent until at least 30 days after they resent us our receipt - same with the EAD). Does anyone know if this is true? When we had filed to receive duplicate receipts they told us that our applications would continue to be processed as normal. We have not yet received any documentation from USCIS.

Applying for replacements of documents sent to you by USCIS is a slow and costly procedure. Do you know if your case is still processing? Do you have the case numbers for example? If so then you will probably be OK without the receipt notices.

The only thing I would worry about is whether they sent you a biometrics appointment or interview letter that was returned to them. Missing either of those can be cause for denial.

I would suggest perhaps an Infopass to enquire about the status or your case to be sure. The hotline can only tell you so much, and often tells you information that is wrong.
