Is joint sponsor still necessary?

Hey everyone, so when I submitted my documents with NVC my husband was only $100 off of making the minimum amount to not require a joint sponsor. The documents submitted and approved were from 2019 and now on his 2020 tax form he makes well over the amount required. I will be bringing both forms from 2019 and 2020 along with me to my interview. They had requested that I get a joint sponsor since he originally wasn't making enough, but to speed up the process they DQ'd me before I was able to submit my joints sponsors info and told me to just bring it with me to the interview. This makes me nervous just incase there is anything I am missing and I really do not want to be declined my visa. My joint sponsor is self employed so making sure I have everything they will want is just a bit more difficult. I think I have everything I need for my joint sponsor and of course will be bringing it since they requested me to, but I guess my question is, if for whatever reason I do not have all the information they need will it even be a problem since my husband makes enough money now anyway? Thanks 🙂

How much is he earning now?

Assuming there is just 2 of you that is well above the requirement.

$32,000

The correct question was asked and you gave an answer.  What he made on his 2020 tax return is NOT necessarily what he is making now.  He may be making more or less.  If he lost his job yesterday, his current income is zero.  Current income for an employed person does NOT come from a tax return.  It comes from a pay stub.  Why isn't your spouse here asking these questions.  HE is the one who needs to submit the necessary updated forms and supporting documentation.

He is still making over the required amount. I am bringing his paystubs with me to my interview but I was just asking based on his income from 2019 compared to his most recent tax form (2020) because that's why they were asking for a joint sponsor. Im the one attending the interview... just making sure I have all my ducks in a row before I go. thanks lol.

I understand both what you asked, AND what you need to know.  Your husband should submit an updated affidavit of support with updated supporting documentation before your interview.  His current income should come from calculating a full year of income at his current pay rate, not from his 2020 tax return.  Taking this to the interview will likely result in a delay, while he complies with a request to do exactly as I just suggested.

Hi!  We had a joint sponsor when submitting to the NVC as my foreign income we did not list under total taxable income in the US (was working in Canada at the time).  I then moved back to the US and got a job that more than covered what we needed to make, and had that on my most recent tax return.

When my spouse went for the interview, he brought both my tax return and our joint sponsor's and by the time my spouse got to the interview window the CO informed us that he removed the joint sponsor as it was unnecessary to have him on.  We didn't have to ask or anything :)
