I am currently in the AOS phase after arriving to the US in June and filling my AOS package in July. I filed for my GC, EAD and AP at the same time, I’ve completed my biometrics and I am currently waiting for an interview to be scheduled.

While reading through a webpage on ssa.gov I came across this page:

https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211420#g2

If you scroll down to section G it reads as though people who entered via K1 visa have work authorization by their I-94;

The alien's I-94 showing one of the following COAs (classes of admission) has employment authorization unless otherwise noted.”

If you scroll further you see K1 is on this list.

Does this mean we can work without an EAD while waiting for our green cards? Is this website legit?

Any thoughts, experience or input appreciated!

K1 status is good for 90 days so if you entered in June that has long passed.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You are quoting the SSA policy manual.

It's the regulations that THEY use to determine eligibility for an SSN only.

Yes, a K1 is eligible to work WITH either an EAD or GC.

BECAUSE a K1 is eligible to work, they are eligible for an SSN.

That's all the policy manual is saying.
