Didn't realise only 6% of South Africans were over 65. Gotta tell my dad he is special. 

Wish I could tell him in person. But, the travel ban put a stop to that.

There does seem to be a whole lot of hype and overreaction to this new variant.  The Dr. in SA seems to think this is fairly mild which seems logical with the progression of a virus.  It is interesting that people go to the Dr. over being tired/fatigued.

I'm assuming the doctor saw them because they tested positive for covid. Not just because they felt fatigued. 

I never went to the doctor when I was sick... Private healthcare is amazing but expensive and public health care is an ordeal (think waiting outside from 5AM to see the doctor).

My buddy had covid and didn't realise it until they lost their sense of smell... didn't go to the doctor and didn't stop working (although they work from home so not a big deal).

Which seems to be the level of reporting and the response to this new variant which seems to mimic similar symptoms as a common cold.  It is a new world, shut down everything when someone gets the sniffles.
