I'm asking this for someone whose spouse died from covid complication.  Adjustment of status was filed back in January 2021 and received an NOA  extension up to 24 months while waiting for Biometric appointment. (no appt, yet)

The US spouse died from covid a few days ago. Family's making arrangement for funeral service.

I don't want to sound insensitive. But I don't know what to do while the application is at USCIS., or what action will be taken by UCSIS.  Obviously, we have to send a copy of the death certificate  to USCIS.

If anyone can point to an FAQ or give me some insight, i would really appreciate it.

thank you..

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Sounds like a ROC case. Send a copy of death certificate (order two dozen or more, you’ll need it for various businesses to close accounts) to the service center that has your case (from the first receipt notice).

Wait u said they got an 24 month extension letter. That's not Adjust of Status, they filed for Removal of Conditions. They filed the I-751 to remove conditions on a 2 year green card to get a 10 year green card.
All they have to do is call USCIS report the death f the spouse and USCIS will instruct them where to send the death certificate.

And just FYI biometrics can come anytime. We got biometrics 10 months after filing. Some people get biometrics reused.
