Me and my wife are told by the NVC that they already received everything and to wait for the Visa appointment since Aug 2020 - I'm a Green Card holder, probably getting citizenship next year.

Like the title, we have been waiting for our appointment since Aug 2020 but it's almost a year and a half and still nothing. I know that Vietnam went into lockdown a lot recently and it can cause delay in the process but isn't this a lot longer than usual? Could there be any problem and should I be worried? We got married in 2019 right before Covid and we haven't seen each other since then.

You should be checking the visa bulletin as yours is the numerically limited visa category - F2A. Once the number is current they’ll schedule the interview. But you do have to realize all embassies have visa processing backlogs due to being shut down for a while.

You have to be patient.  Nothing to worry about.  Lots of people in line ahead of your wife are waiting for interviews.

Trump banned the F2a category in March 2020.  Biden lifted the ban in March 2021.

The US Consulate in HCMC has been been conducting interviews since the 4 COVID wave hit Vietnam in May 2021.  They have only started interviews again in October.

I know people in the F2a category who have been waiting for their interviews to be rescheduled since March 2020.  People who had interviews scheduled for March 2020 which were cancelled and are now waiting for new interviews.  Until the backlog is worked through, your wife will have to wait.  There are lots of people in line in front of her.

Sorry.
