SSN after EAD for minor

I and my daughter got EAD the other day, (originally entered by k1 and k3 visa.)

Our i485 is still pending.

 

I got my social security card after a few days that we got Combo card, but still haven't received my daughter's one.

She's10 yo.

I thought she's eligible for ssn, but do we have to wait till i485 is approved?

Your daughter is eligible. Sometimes the SSN isn't issued even after checking the options on i765. Best is to go to SSA office and apply in person for your child. In fact, EAD for child is only good for such purposes not for actual employment (depending upon age).

I will call SSA office, I hope they are going to pick up the phone though..

Actually we tried to apply for SSN right after my marriage to an american citizen, but they just kept saying I and my daughter were not eligible because we're not to allowed to work yet, also they only take emergency cases due to the COVID,

then they stopped picking up phones and all we  got was their voice mails..

 

But it's good to know that my daughter is eligible for the number.

If you applied for hers on her I765, it will come automatically.

Can take up to 2 weeks though (hasn't been long enough to worry yet).

I was worried because I only got mine but hers.
