Hi all!!

Hoping for a bit of advice as I can't seem to find anything anywhere about this! I had my medical at the embassy medical place in London in January 2021, I needed the TDAP booster but they offered it there for like $200 so they said I can just get it at my GP for free. So the next day I went to my local doctors office and got the TDAP booster for free. I have since moved to the US and we filed for AOS in July and we have the AOS interview coming up on December 20th. Since my medical was done within 12 months I know I don't need to redo it, but do I need to get my TDAP vaccine signed off anywhere? I have my vaccination record printed out form my GP with TDAP and COVID on there, I also got the flu shot here a few weeks ago.

I have called about 6 of the doctors on the USCIS website and asked if they can just sign off my vaccinations but they are all saying they don't do that since they didn't give the vaccines and that they can only do the full medical? I have an appointment on Monday with one of the USCIS doctors who said he'd take a look at my form and try to help me but I want to know specifically what parts of the i693 he would need to fill out/do for me.

Also - does it have to be in a sealed envelope?? Do I have to sign anything??

I'm not sure if I'm missing something or doing something wrong here but if anyone can advise that would be great!

I am going to assume that your medical is not shown as complete?

Yes a Civil Surgeon can just do the vaccination side and I know where I am in the US they do not do them but send you off elsewhere to have them done. Some of them will not just do this part due to the Dollars or over charge for it.

Civil Surgeon will provide the documentation so not an issue for you to worry about, it is what they do.

Where would I see if my medical is shown as complete? At the medical they told me it was all signed off and at the embassy there was no issues - the medical people just told me that I just needed to have the vaccination before doing the AOS, which I did. Ok so I will just take the i693 with me to the doctors and have him fill it out? I don't need to fill out anything? thanks!

dont worry about the forms. i-693 physicians are well versed in the documentation. carry all vaccination and medical records relevant to the requirements for i-693. They will fill out the paperwork and give you a sealed envelope to send to uscis. it shouldnt cost you more than 200$ for sign off. if its more than they are ripping off

duh

But I already sent off my AOS without the I-693, our interview is in a few weeks so I will just take the sealed envelope with us to the interview?

You can pass the K1 medical with no vaccines, you need that to adjust.

Yes you will hand it over, most likely just to delay things as they have something else to review after the event.

It is clearly specified in the instructions. 1-5, 7 and 10. Part 1-4 to be filled by you.

The shot is £40 at the visa medical. If you had gotten it, you would be done with doctors. You’re likely going to spend a whole lot more with a civil surgeon, not to mention the hassle. As you have found out, most insist on doing the medical over.

If you will actually read the instructions to the I-693, they tell you what to do and what gets filled out. You might want to print a spare form and go through highlighting the parts that need to be filled in (that you learn from the instructions). It might be helpful when talking with the doctor because he’s probably never read the form instructions either and doesn’t know what,to fill in for a K1 just getting jabs signed off. And they are to give you a copy of what they seal in the envelope. Don’t leave until you have checked that all was filled in. Your highlighted spare copy would be useful to check what the civil surgeon did.

Take any shot records you have from your GP and your DS-3025 (vaccination sheet you got from the visa clinic) for the doctor to review and transcribe all of them to the vaccination page of the I-693. And if you read the instructions, you will note that you take in the I-693 with your part already filled in and then have the CS witness you signing the form after you have proven your identity to him.

I totally disagree. Most have no clue what to do for a K1 who only needs their shot record signed off.

We found a Civil Surgeon who did it for my husband. We brought in the proof that he got the vaccine (from an independent doctor), the  CS completed the relevant part of the form, put it into a sealed envelope, and we took it to our interview. He charged us $100.

Some do. There’s a whole thread of names and locations and prices of civil Surgeons people have found to sign off on the vaccinations without doing the whole medical over. But is is difficult to find one.
