They are.  Hopefully you sent the I-485 with tracking and they are carrying the tracking number with them.

I missed the fact that the I-485 was sent before the I-130.

And so I withdraw my certainty as to their authorized status. Had @iceman1987 filed I-130 first and included a copy of NOA1 with the I-485 or better yet filed I-130 / I-485 together, that would have grant authorized presence.

Yep.  They could reject the I-485s.....or even immediately deny them if they can't connect them to I-130s.  Timing will be extremely critical in this particular case.

I think they'll reject it since they have to process it to deny it and they don't even have a basis to process it. There is no way uscis will try to connect the i485 to i130 by themselves.

@iceman1987, if the I-485s are either rejected or denied, your parents will not be granted authorized stay until proper I-485s are resubmitted and accepted.

Sorry for the confusion guys! I did submit both of them almost at the same time. I filed I-130 online on October 27 and mailed I-485 with I-130 receipt on November 1 (they received it Nov 4 per tracking). I hope this clarifies the confusion.

Then, to answer your original question:  The receipt for a properly file I-485 is evidence of authorized stay in the US until said I-485 is either approved or denied.

Note: Accurate answers can only be given if accurate information is posted.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thanks! That’s the one we’ve been waiting for, I-485 receipt. It’s almost 3 weeks since they’ve received it. Hopefully we’ll get it this week. The thing is their stay here will expire on December 9. What are we going to do if by then, we don’t receive the receipt notice for the I-485? Sorry again for the confusion.
