Today my wife got an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) card in the mail that's good for 2yrs which allows her to work and it also allows her to travel out of the country (I-512 Advanced Parole) its dual use card.

Very happy, now still waiting for the interview at USCIS and a Green card.

Congratulations. How long did it take for both documents to be issued to her?

We got notified on SEP 20th that the USCIS intends to schedule our interview, but have no date yet.

My wife also received a card in the mail that lets her work and travel outside the USA and is good for 2yrs, then 5 days later a Social Security card showed up in the mail which I was really happy about. I talked to the IRS and confirmed once you have a SS# you no longer need to use your ITIN# to file US taxes you use your SS#.

Last, once we got the SS# we went and applied for a Georgia State ID in person and got that card within 7 days.

I believe it's Atlanta, since we are located in Georgia.

Might be. Hopefully somebody else can tell you how much they had to wait for their interview. And remember to keep collecting evidence for her ROC two years from now.

Atlanta office is taking 13.5 to 36.5 months to process an I-485, from date of filing, according to USCIS processing times.  Good luck!

Where in Atlanta do you live? We are moving there for the lower cost of living. Do you think it is better to live in the city or in the suburbs for job opportunities?

Thank you in advance and Happy Holidays.

We live south of Atlanta in a 55+ retirement Del Webb community called Sun City Peachtree and we love it. There are great places to live outside Atlanta like Roswell, Dunwoody, Kennesaw, too many to mention.
