Greetings one and all.

Having followed all the procedures and advice found on here I have moved successfully, married my fiancee and have been living happily in the USA for over 2 years now !!!

I have my permanent residency card (which expires march 2008) and i have most of my paperwork ready to lift the conditions and extend my residency (here's hoping they give me the 10 year card!).

My question is this. I will be travelling back to the UK for my cousins wedding (September 2nd this year) and am seeking any advice / do's / dont's

Is my UK Passport and my Permenant Residency Card enough to do this - i have spoken to several friends who have made similar trips with their UK passports and residency cards but, seeing as i have had nothing but good advice from the people here, i thought i would ask again.

Thanks in advance

Alex

Yes, you book airline tickets using the name in the passport, and upon returning to the USA you just present the Green-Card to reenter the country, also good idea to have a copy of marriage cert, to show name change if passport and green-card don't match.

Question is a FAQ, and also asked allot.

Is green card alone sufficient or is it green card accompanied by your passport?

YMMV

GC-plus-passport
  • The GC is needed specifically for US reentry
  • The passport is required for practically all foreign travel anyways (including US reentry)

Authorities elsewhere in the world don't give anything for your greencard. For everybody else than the US gov it's just a piece of paper.

The passport is what you need.
