Just wanted to say that I still see no shortage of turkeys in any store I've been in. They are overflowing - and I snagged two free turkeys this year. Even the local butcher is offering some spare turkeys today.

I noticed quite a few turkeys in the stores around here.  We are doing a Russian style dinner so no turkey for us this year. We are doing duck and liver tort.

Duck and liver tort sounds amazing! I'm roasting a porchetta but my sister has decided that she's concerned that she may not like the porchetta so she's making a turkey as well. My prediction: she will love the porchetta and commandeer it for her sole consumption, on the basis that she is about to enter her third trimester and needs to keep her strength up.

I can take or leave duck, but the liver tort is amazing.  Layers of blinis and layers of liver pate with sour cream ams cheese in between.  I think there will be other stuff, we are going to our cousins, so not sure of all the sides.  Maybe they will also have porchetta!  :)

Liver - isn't that one of the main ingredients in commercial cat and dog food?
