Presumably you'll get same-day approval notice (I did just like many others).

Personally - I wouldn't leave the country until my online status said 'Approved'.

im just pointing out to OP that there's a chance it might happen so its better to wait until its approved ( if can get same day approval)

The I-551 stamp looks like this:

Also, the above stamp is technically not necessary. For example:

Beautiful!!! Thank you!!

At interview, you can ask for stamp on your PP. It's valid for a year. I got one.

So did I.  In 1985.

I once (2020 or 2021) did some analysis of timelines on VJ

I think the last reported I-551 stamp from an I-485 interview was over 10 years ago.  I’d love to be wrong. Beats me why USCIS doesn’t do these any more.

I was not even born yet🤣

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Most weren’t.

I don’t think OP is getting an I-551 stamp at the interview

I have not seen someone approved at the interview for a long time, now they may be approved shortly thereafter but by then they have gone.

Yes technically  I think you are correct. I saw a case a few days ago from the Atlanta FO where the beneficiary at interview received a paper notice stating the case has been recommended for approval, and final decision Would come later.  Later that day  the status changed to card in production.

Need some guidance! I booked a flight back home to Canada to visit my family for Christmas December 7th. Well, I just received notice that my interview is scheduled for December 14th. It would be crazy to reschedule an interview I’ve been waiting for, for 14 months so I ended up rescheduling my flight for literally the day after my interview (December 15). Is this an issue? Will I be able to use my advance parole the day after my interview and use it to get back in 2 weeks later around the 29th?? I’m not sure what to do. If my green card is approved could

I ask them to mail it to Canada so I can use it to get back into the states? Or should my husband who is staying home in the states mail it to me?

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Be aware that the approval/card production might not even happen during that timeline.  Husband's took ~ 3 weeks in early 2020, out of Seattle LFO.

Thank you!!

Here is another example of a LPR entering the US without the GC:

It was straightforward and they even offered him the CBP version of the I-551 stamp. It's the first one on page #31 (*39 in the PDF order) of the CBP guide: https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/documents/2019-Mar/2019 Carrier Information Guide - ENGLISH.pdf

Wow.  I had been told CBP wasn’t allowed to that anymore.  Thanks for busting  that myth.
