Hello all!

I filed my I-129f petition to the Nebraska Service Center on 06/22 and just received my NOA1 in the mail yesterday. I was wondering at first what was going on....but discovered something.

I'm not sure if it has been widely discussed, but I figured I would just throw it out there...

All of the I-129f petitions are being forwarded to the CA service center. I called the USCIS today and confirmed that info. This is probably the reason why it took 17 days to get my NOA1....it was sent to NE first and forwarded to CA. The forms state that if you live in certain states, to send your petition to the corresponding service center. This apparently is changing and they will soon be instructed to send directly to the CA service center.

This is the info they gave me....if I have anything wrong....don't hesitate to let me know.

You can file at Cali or Vermont NOW, before July 30th.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/Up...iling062107.pdf

USCIS will accept Forms I-129F, I-131, I-140, I-360, I-485, I-765 and I-907 filed with the new “Direct Filing” location in advance of the July 30, 2007 effective date, that are otherwise properly filed.

Petitioners will file the Form I-129F with either the Vermont Service Center or California Service

Center, depending on where the petitioner resides, and regardless of whether it is filed for a K-1

fiancé(e) or a K-3 spouse. This represents a change from current I-129F filing instructions, which

direct the filing of K-1 petitions to all four USCIS service centers and the filing of K-3 petitions to

the Chicago Lock Box.

This has been widely discussed and been going on for more than a year... With that said, all is changing again....

YMMV

This has been in effect for quite some time. I129Fs and I130s are adjudicated at Vermont or Cali. Vermont handles those sent to them, and Cali gets directs plus those from Texas and Nebraska. The instructions still say to send them to the Texas, Nebraska, Vermont, or Cali based on address. This is about to change. Effective July 30, as devilette said, these petitions should be directly filed to either Vermont or Cali depending on your place of residence. When they issued that notice of change of instructions they also indicated that they will start accepting direct filings immediately.

There are many reasons why your NOA1 took so long. Search the forums for this to share in others' misery.
