Just a warning - our documentation was just reviewed today (Nov 12 2021) and they noted that my husband’s police clearance certificate had expired (dated August 19 2021) so it seems they do care…so frustrating, since nowhere does it state how long they clearances are valid for!

This is for you SA police clearance? Not a clearance from another country....

SA clearances take so long! Do you have to submit a new clearance or did they accept with the advice to order a new certificate for the interview?

Yes, for my husband’s SA police clearance certificate. They rejected it outright, though I think (hope) it was a mistake. It was dated two days before we submitted our documentation, but the date was 19 Aug 2021 - maybe they saw it as 2019?? Sigh. Not sure if they ever reverse their decisions, or how long that takes…

I would call NVC because you can't submit a a police clearance anymore current!

And right now they are reviewing cases from 15 August 2021, so it's not possible to submit a police clearance before that date. ..

Some members have called NVC when they've requested documentation that is not available/ when NVC has made a mistake.

thanks, I will! Sorry to have hijacked this thread, it was the first one I saw in my frantic searching of how long police clearance certificates are valid to see if I’d missed something…

They must have read the police clearance date incorrectly, or missed the date entirely.

The issue date is stamped, so it is possible they don't know what to look out for/ the scan isn't clear and they didn't see it.

The NVC gives states police clearances expire after 2 years...  So, a PCC issued in August of this year should still be valid.

Important: Police certificates expire after two years, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:
