My interview is coming up in a couple of days and the interview notice doesn't state that I need to bring all of the forms I sent off for the initial application, but I see a number of sources online saying that you should bring a copy of the entire package with you.

Does anyone know the definitive answer as to whether you need the complete immigration package with you at the time of the interview?

Thanks :)

My wife and I did.  Most of it was already in the officer's file but I had my copies of everything just in case.

Put a different way...if you have your copies of all of the paperwork, why not take it with you?  It may save you a delay if the officer asks for something and you say, gee, I left that at home.  Especially if you have originals of documents that you sent copies of...bring the originals just in case.

Obviously if you don't have it you can't bring it.

You'd be surprised how many documents, or, say, ONE page of a multi-page document can get lost in the bowels of USCIS.  You are not REQUIRED to bring these documents, but they are your insurance.

The definitive answer is No, you don't need to bring the already sent package with you. Like others have said, the reason others bring or you may want to bring is in case uscis have lost or misplaced one document and the IO ask for that document, you can give him right there. If you don't have it with you, the IO may send RFE later which will jist delay the process.

As others have said, you do not have to. We did. We brought everything we'd sent them and some more. At one point during our interview, the officer could not find our tax returns and I told him "I have a copy right here. Please let me know if you need it." After that quick interjection, he seemed to find everything else just fine.

Having all those documents helped us feel in control. We also reviewed them before the interview. English is my husband's 4th language. I made sure he reacquainted himself with the Yes or No questions on the I-485.
