So it seems that our AOS package has been stuck at the Chicago distribution center since Monday with no update since. Keeps saying "in transit to next facility, arriving late." I sent the package Priority last Friday with signature confirmation. I figured that would have been a pretty safe option but wondering what is going on. I put in an inquiry with the post office and they just said to give it until Monday. I really hate to have to redo the entire packet again, we put the sealed i-693 package from the doctor in there so really hoping it's not lost. Has anyone else had any issues lately with the same message and then your packet just showed up or what did you do?

You delayed your mailing yourself by asking for the signature confirmation. USPS mails including priority/express mails with tracking information gets delivered to PO box (equivalent to big storage boxes) of the lockbox facility. You would've received delivery confirmation once they drop your package on those po boxes. The lockbox staffs then go to those boxes and collect it at their own time. By asking for signature confirmation, you forced usps to deliver it to a person not to their  PO box which resulted in delays.

Thanks, I figure a notice would have updated though that it departed the distribution center at least, but so far nothing just “in transit to next facility”

I had read previous posts on here and figured signature was the best option. How long does it normally take to update to at least show its at the PO Box ? It’s been a week with no movement

I do not trust USPS with important documents so I used FedEx with a signature option. It was delivered overnight and signed by somebody name J.XXXXA back in July 2021. I think you only use the signature option if you will use a courier as it is going directly to the 3rd Floor of S Dearborn office in Chicago.

Yeah, I thought USPS Priority with signature confirmation was the way to go as I have seen so many talk about it and in the guides everywhere you look. I am just wondering at this point if it's lost, or if it will just start moving. It's been "in transit, arriving late" for 8 days now. I thought I would have seen it depart the distribution center at least. USPS keeps saying someone will call me but so far nothing. They said it's not considered "lost" until after 30 days. I will keep calling because I really don't want to assemble another package, stop payment on my check, take more passport pics if we don't have to. USCIS says they don't have it yet, so I am not sure what else to do.

Yeah, I thought USPS Priority

USPS priority (without signature) is the best. I've used this for all my immigration mails.

It will move. Because there's nobody there for signature on PO Box address you out on delivery address, they have to figure out a way so it is taking time. But it will get there at some point.

Thanks. Is not seeing it leave the distribution center something other people have seen as well that you know of? I though it would have at least said departed, or arrived at PO awaiting signature, etc

They could still be figuring out where to send.

USPS called today and said it’s officially lost as far as they can tell. Told me to wait one more week just to be sure. It’s somewhere in the Chicago distribution center and that was the last spot it was seen. I really hope it turns up ASAP if not we will cancel the check and send another

Ours was essentially lost in Chicago distro and I did a trace in it. After a while I got a receipt from USCIS.  They don't always acknowledge the delivered status and they don't get signed for.  Stay calm. It's probably there.

USCIS actually had it a few days after I mailed it but it was a month before they sent a receipt.  Tracking still showed it waiting delivery and probably still does.

Give it some time -

Poor usps mailman could still be wandering throughout Chicago day and night , knocking door by door and asking, "Sir, are you the recipient of this PO box? Please say yes, please say yes, i haven't been able to see my family since last Monday"

I did a missing mail claim yesterday so hopefully that will turn up something. Will wait a couple of weeks before we do anything with assembling a new package. Would be great if it turns out like your situation. How long did it take before they found yours that you know of ?
