06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Things are getting bad. I work as a machinist for a company that runs a bunch of punch presses and we had to shut down one of our big money making presses this week because the steel suppliers can't supply us with any steel even though we place orders with every supplier out there. It has been an ongoing issue trying to order steel since I started working there in January and finally the shortages have caught up.with us. It costs the company about $10k an hour every hour that press sits idle and our customers keep upping their orders to insane levels. One of our customers was even paying our press operators triple pay to work on the weekends they need the parts so bad. The demand is there but the supplies aren't. I hope the steel shortage doesn't cost me my job in the near future. This company has been around for 100 years without a single layoff in their history (even during the great depression) but I have a feeling that is gonna change if we can't get the steel we need.
