Thoughts on Contacting a Government Official

Ok – I’m really starting to get peeved. We’ve been working on the K3 visa for almost 1 ½ years. Enough is enough. I call the DOS, they tell me nothing. I call the embassy in Cairo and they tell me nothing no matter how detailed I get in my questions, the response is always the same “You’re case is pending Administrative Processing and you will be notified when the case is complete”. I send in emails to the Embassy in Cairo as well like the recording says to do and still the same response.

So the last thing that’s happened in our case was an official from the embassy went to visit my husbands family on June 19th. I’ve called and sent in an email to the Cairo Embassy and no answers.

My question is – has anyone working on a visa through Cairo ever contacted a government official and did it help? Do I contact a Congressman or a Senator? I don’t want to contact a government official and make the embassy mad or delay our case, but I really need this visa case to be done.

Our case was in AP for over a year. We even had a Congressional letter requesting to expedite the file considering all that we had already been through. This was the Moroccan Consulate, by the way. I would email the Consulate every couple of months and got the same response as you. I contacted our Congress rep several times but they said there was no more that they could do. It certainly wouldn't hurt to contact a government office that might be sympathetic to your plight. The whole AP/AR period has been really tough on some of us.

We filed June of 2006, and Ahmed had the visa interview April 18th, 2007. We are still in administrative processing. We have worked with a lady from our congressman's office from the beginning. She has been extremely helpful with information and helping us get things done right. However, as far as the processing, she has emailed Cairo reguarding our case, and it has made no difference. We still have to wait like everyone else. Not sure this helps, and I feel your frustration, I have it too. Hopefully you will hear something soon.

I dont see where it can hurt, surely the snails pace at Cairo has prompted many a congressional inquiry so I dont think it would single you out for more delay. The worst that could happen is nothing, as in it doesnt help at all, but if it were me I would at least give it a shot.

I did contact my senator, but that was after we had received many emails saying he had his visa, only then to receive another email saying his case was still pending AR. I've heard that there's nothing really a congressman or senator can do....I really don't know. I do know that Cairo did respond with a letter and admitted that they had "accidentally" sent me those emails, but then realized there was more checks to be done. My husband did get his visa a month later. It may have been a coincident, I don't know. I'd contact them anyway. It can't hurt. It's a shame you two have been on AR for so long. I really hope this will all come to an end very soon.

i contacted both recently to try and hurry things along too. who knows if it helps, but its worth trying for sure! doesn't take much effort.
