There is no fixed timeline, unfortunately.  Another VJ member in the thread below even filed a lawsuit against USEM just to get the case moving after a 221g for NBI explanation letter --

Hello

I had my interview this Nov 9 ! And I received

221g form asking for NBI written explanation

the USSEM saying their the one is going to process , and they gonna call me and email

for what next process ! Anyone know how lng it takes for USEM to call me or mail me ?! And do I need to go to NBI also ?

I seen a few cases like that taking 2 to 3 months but could take however long it takes.  It may depend on what the issue is.  Often it is a civil court case, or a dismissed criminal case or an arrest without a case being filed.  Something like that.  If you have some idea what the reason may be and could provide documents to clarify the disposition, such as the court order dismissing a case or something like that.  It 'might' help taking it to NBI. If you don't have an idea what the issue may be it will just have to run it's course.

I was interviewed January 16 2024 and got 221g that says "to verify court documents" because i had a criminal case before but was already dismissed. I just received a letter from usem telling me that i need to go to nbi manila for interview and explaination letter. But my nbi clearance actually says "no record on file". Maybe they git confused?
